Updates KB4480116 and KB4476976 for Windows 10 version 1809 released
After Holidays, Windows development team is back in the business. Last month, they announced that 2nd cumulative update of the month would not be available due to Holiday season but now, the teams have started to work and as a result, we are getting updates more frequently. Starting with a cumulative update released on Wednesday i.e. KB4480116, another cumulative update has dropped for Windows Insiders in the release preview ring for version 1809. Let us discuss both of them.
KB4480116
For the computers not enrolled in the Insider preview, KB4480116 was released on January 8, which jumped the build number to 17763.253. Following changes were introduced.

Addresses a security vulnerability in session isolation that affects PowerShell remote endpoints. By default, PowerShell remoting only works with administratoraccounts,but can be configured to work with non-administrator accounts. Starting with this release, you cannot configure PowerShell remote endpoints to work with non-administrator accounts. When attempting to use a non-administrator account, the following error will appear:“New-PSSession: [computerName] Connecting to remote server localhost failed with the following error message: The WSMan service could not launch a host processto process the given request. Make sure the WSMan provider host server and proxy are properly registered. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic.”

Addresses an issue in which using esentutl /p to repair a corrupt Extensible Storage Engine (ESE) database results in a mostly empty database. The ESE database is corrupted and cannot be mounted.

Security updates to Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Windows MSXML, Windows Kernel, Windows Storage and Filesystems, Windows Wireless Networking, Microsoft JET Database Engine, Windows Linux, Windows Virtualization, and the Microsoft Scripting Engine.
There is a known issue in this update:
- After installing this update, third-party applications may have difficulty authenticating hotspots.

Another cumulative update released today is KB4476976, which is for devices on Release preview ring. The build number jumps to 17763.288. The changelog has not been publically available yet, but there are reports of this update correcting Action center issues.
