March Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 10
Patch Tuesday brings updates and fixes to every version of Windows and the same goes for this month too. Microsoft has released updates for each supported version of Windows 10. Let us discuss them one by one.
Windows 10 1809
For Windows 10 1809, Microsoft has released KB4489899 which jumps the build number to 17763.379. Plenty of fixes are there, which are as under coming with KB4489899 .
- Addresses an issue in Microsoft HoloLens with tracking and device calibration that has affected some users. You may notice improvement 10-15 minutes after installing this update, but we recommend resetting the holograms for best results.
- Addresses an issue that may cause users to receive “Error 1309” while installing or uninstalling certain types of MSI and MSP files.
- Addresses an issue that may degrade graphics and mouse performance with desktop gaming when playing certain games, such as Destiny 2, after installing KB4482887.
- Security updates to Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows Shell, Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Windows Kernel-Mode Drivers, Windows Server, Windows Linux, Windows Hyper-V, Windows Datacenter Networking, Windows Storage and Filesystems, Windows Wireless Networking, the Microsoft JET Database Engine, Windows Kernel, Windows, and Windows Fundamentals.

Knwon issues
There are two known issues with the update:
- After installing this update, Internet Explorer 11 may have authentication issues. This occurs when two or more people use the same user account for multiple, concurrent login sessions on the same Windows Server machine, including Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) and Terminal Server logons. Symptoms reported by customers include, but may not be limited to:
- Cache size and location show zero or empty.
- Keyboard shortcuts may not work properly.
- Webpages may intermittently fail to load or render correctly.
- Issues with credential prompts.
- Issues when downloading files.
- After installing this update on machines that have multiple audio devices, applications that provide advanced options for internal or external audio output devices may stop working unexpectedly. This issue occurs for users that select an audio output device different from the “Default audio device”.
Windows 10 1803
For Windows 10 1803, Microsoft has released KB4489868 which jumps the build number to 17134.648. Following changes are coming with this release
- Addresses an issue that may cause users to receive “Error 1309” while installing or uninstalling certain types of MSI and MSP files.

Windows 10 1709
For Windows 10 1709, Microsoft has released KB4489886 which jumps the build number to 16299.1027. This is the second last release for Windows 10 1709 Home users.
Reminder: March 12th and April 9th will be the last two Delta updates for Windows 10, version 1709. Security and quality updates will continue to be available via the express and full cumulative update packages. For more information on this change please visit our blog.
