New features in Windows 11 Moment 3 update
After rolling out several features in March, Microsoft is gearing up to release the next update to Windows 11, codenamed Windows 11 Moment 3 update. What is new in Windows 11 22H2 Moment 3 update?
A summary of the new features shipping with the May 2023 update to Windows 11 22H2 is as follows:
- Live Captions for several languages: Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), French (France, Canada), German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese (Brazil, Portugal), Spanish, Danish, English (Ireland, other English dialects), and Korean. You can turn on live captions using the Win+Ctrl+L shortcut.
- Redesign of Voice Access app and support for many languages in Voice Access for English Locales.
- If your PC is connected to VPN, this update adds a VPN status icon, a small shield, to the system tray.
- You can now show Seconds on the Taskbar in the clock.
- You can now copy 2FA codes from the notification menu.
- This update adds access key shortcuts to File Explorer’s context menu.
- Moment 3 update now supports Multi-app Kiosk mode.
- You can now create Live Kernel Dump from the Task Manager. To do this, click Details. Right-click the System process. Select Create live kernel memory dump file.
- This update adds a USB4 hubs and devices Settings page.
- This update enables Content Adaptive Brightness Control (CABC) to run on laptops and 2-in-1 devices. Correspondingly, This feature dims or brightens areas of a display based on the content.
- This update adds a Presence sensor privacy setting in Settings > Privacy & security > Presence sensing.
- This update improves the performance of search within Settings.
- This update modifies the default print screen (Prt Scn) key behaviour. Concurrently, pushing the print screen key opens the Snipping Tool by default.
- This update introduces a limit of 20 most recent tabs in Settings > Multitasking.
- This update improves the Cloud suggestion and the integrated search suggestion. Furthermore, this helps you to easily type famous words in Simplified Chinese using the Input Method Editor (IME).
Additional improvements
There are some additional improvements with the Moment 3 update, given below:
- A new widget picker experience to the Beta and Release Preview Channels is being rolled out, with an image that gives a visual preview of the widget before pinning.
- Concurrently, This update provides the total storage capacity of all your OneDrive subscriptions. It also displays the full storage on the Accounts page in the Settings app.
- Additionally, This update replaces the settings for Show the touch keyboard when there’s no keyboard attached. Notably, these are located at Settings > Time & language > Typing > Touch keyboard. A new dropdown menu gives you three options to control whether tapping an edit control should open the touch keyboard.
