Windows 11 Moment 4 update now available
During its annual Surface event , Microsoft announced several new Surface products and provided updates on Windows releases. Microsoft yesterday revealed the Windows 11 Moment 4 23H2 update(23H2 will arrive later).
With a majority of focus on AI features, Microsoft is ready to step into the AI era of Windows starting with this update. Some new features include a copilot, a new file explorer, etc.
We will have a separate article that provides instructions on how to upgrade. However, upgrading to Windows 11 22H2 from 23H2 is easy and happens within a few minutes, as the codebase is identical.
What is new in 23H2 update
A summary of the new features announced in the Windows 11 23H2 update is as follows:
- Windows Copilot: An AI assistant that helps users be more productive by understanding complex queries, commands, and context.
- Redesigned File Explorer: A new look for the File Explorer, including a modern Details pane and a refreshed UI aligning Windows 111 principles.
- Ink Anywhere: A feature for pen users that allows them to use ink in more places.
- AI upgrades to Paint, Snipping Tool, and Photos. The snipping tool can redact PII copy text from a screenshot. Paint can now remove the background of a Photo. Microsoft Photos can now Blur the background of a Photo, support content search, etc.
- Native support for RAR and 7-zip archive files: Users can now open these files without third-party software like WinRAR.
- Taskbar improvements like Never Combine labels and a new Notification icon.
- Gallery feature in File Explorer that supports 3rd party integration like iCloud.
- A new Windows Backup app that allows you to move to a new PC seamlessly.
- Dev Home and Dev drive apps for developers.
- New Home Page for Settings app, and Dynamic Lightning Settings in Settings.
- Task Manager is now equipped with Modern Windows 11 UI.
- Accessibility improvements like improvements to the voice access.
- Improvements to the Volume Mixer feature in Windows 11.
