Windows 11 Moment 5 update to be available this month
Microsoft is preparing to release the next feature update for Windows 11 later this month., also known as “Moment 5” or the “February 2024 Moment” for Windows 11. The upcoming feature drop, called Windows 11 February configuration update will be smaller in scope compared to previous updates. The main objective is to implement necessary modifications to the operating system to make it compliant with the Digital Markets Act (DMA).
New Features in Windows 11 Moment 5 update
Apart from DMA changes, there are also many other improvements rolling out with this update, as mentioned below:
- Ability to ink anywhere across text boxes: With this update, you can write on the text boxes using a pen without requiring any support from a handwriting panel.
- More uninstallable apps: With Windows 11 Moment 5, Inbox apps like Edge, Cortana, Camera, and Photos can now be uninstalled. Users can uninstall the Edge browser for the first time if they don’t want to use it.
- Improvements to Nearby Share: Now, you can assign a name to your PC in the Nearby Share menu for better readability. Consequently, this will appear when another PC attempts to share a file with you using Nearby Share. Microsoft claims that there are transfer speed enhancements in the Moment 5 update.
- AI-powered smart app snap suggestions to the Snap Layouts menu: Hovering over the maximize icon in an app will show AI-powered suggestions appear to help you use Snap layouts. Windows’ machine learning capabilities are designed to automatically suggest layouts based on your most frequently snapped apps, ensuring a seamless multitasking experience.
- The copilot button is now at the extreme right of the Taskbar.
- You can now disable the Microsoft Start news feed from the Widget board.
- Lastly, the Windows 11 Moment 5 update enhances the Windows 365 experience with a disconnect button and custom organization messages.
