This article helps you troubleshoot a recent known issue with Microsoft Edge. Microsoft Edge is missing several features, such as “Rewrite with Copilot” and “Compose” in the sidebar.
Microsoft Edge and AI features

Microsoft Edge is a popular web browser and has several beneficial AI features integrated into it. Some of the examples are:
- Copilot integration in the sidebar for knowledge.
- Rewriting text.
- Page insights or PDF insights.
- Composing Text.
Recently, some users have observed that many features from this list are missing for Enterprise Customers. This article provides more information on the same.
Why Collaborate with Copilot i.e. Rewrite with Copilot missing from Microsoft Edge

In a recent conversation, Microsoft told me that they are updating the Microsoft Copilot service from “Commercial Data Protection” to full “Enterprise Data Protection” for users of the free service. Because of the transition, some integrations of the Copilot in the Microsoft Edge browser, for example, the Compose tab on the sidebar and the Rewrite with Copilot, are missing. Furthermore, it might also affect having PDF reading capabilities, including a summary.
The good news is that these changes are just temporary. The missing features will be added soon, as soon as they are ready after the switchover. Additionally, Microsoft has referred me to this article, which documents more changes coming with the name change.
Use a Personal Microsoft Account in a Browser profile temporarily
Furthermore, I have observed that the missing features, like Rewrite, are already available if you use a Personal Microsoft Account rather than work. If your Employer allows that, consider adding a separate profile from Microsoft Edge Settings > New Profile. The options will appear.
To summarize, this article helps you inform about Rewrite with Copilot missing in Microsoft Edge.
