The cumulative update model for Windows 7/8.1 wouldn’t include Internet explorer patches in the beginning
A while ago we told you about Windows 7 and 8.1 being moved to Cumulative update model and this is expected to start as soon as next month in October. The cumulative update model would result in only 1 update that fixes issues with the OS, security updates and introduction to any feature(s)(applies only to 8.1).
For Windows 7 and 8, the software giant expects the security updates to IE in between the cumulative update roll-up, but this would not happen next month. Nathan Mercer, the senior product manager said the following for the roll-up packages expected to start next month:
“IE version upgrades will not happen with Monthly rollup, but we plan to eventually include patches for which ever version of IE you currently have installed in the Monthly rollup, similar to the .NET rollup.”
