Outlook Outage update – Outlook fixed

Today, on July 10th, Outlook is experiencing an Outage in most parts of the World. As of the writing, it is still displaying various errors, including 501. Affected platforms are Windows, Mac, Android, and iPhone.

The rollout is started.

User impact: Users may be unable to access their mailbox using any connection methods.

Current status: We’ve begun a broad expedited deployment of the configuration change across all affected infrastructure. We expect most impacted users will experience relief within the next two hours, as the fix saturates the environment. We’re closely monitoring service health telemetry to ensure the recovery continues as expected. We understand how impactful incidents of this type can be, and we’re continuing to open any additional workstreams to expedite recovery and restore availability.

Microsoft, in the last update at 7 AM PST, told the following:

We identified an issue with the initial fix, and we’ve corrected it. We’re continuing to deploy the fix, and we’re closely monitoring the deployment to ensure no further issues are encountered. Please visit https://portal.office.com/servicestatus/ for more information.

At the 365 Health status page, the following update is this:

More info: Impacted connection methods include, but may not be limited to: – Outlook.com – Outlook Mobile – Outlook desktop client Current status: We’re continuing to apply the configuration changes to fix the underlying problem and completing additional validation efforts to ensure authentication components are properly configured.

In parallel to the current deployment of the configuration change fix, we’re reviewing options to leverage an expedited deployment methodology in regions which are experiencing the highest levels of impact to provide the most effective relief where possible.

Estimated Fix time for Outlook

At this moment, Microsoft has not provided an estimated time of arrival for the Outlook Fix.

To-Do is also affected by Outage

With the Outlook outage, Microsoft To-Do is also affected, as users cannot open to-do items in the app. It is expected that it will also be restored when Outlook is restored to normal.
