This article describes a known issue where users of it cannot download attachments from Outlook for web, also known by the names of OWA and classic Outlook, also known as Outlook 365.

What is the exact issue?
Several users over the past few days reported being unable to download PDF attachments in all versions of Outlook, and getting a Something went wrong message.

The initial issue was limited to PDF files, but users are now reporting that the problem affects all attachment downloads. Earlier this month, with Outlook, another known issue came up where you could not connect Outlook with Gmail accounts which we covered here.

Microsoft has recently added an advisory in its Service Health portal about this issue, explaining that OWA and Outlook new are affected by this known issue.

Our HAR trace analysis has focused our investigation to a token failure that we believe could be preventing the opening of email attachments for users in Outlook on the web. We’re further analyzing the isolated failure to confirm our findings and so our next troubleshooting steps for remediating the impact can be determined.
A few troubleshooting steps if you are on New Outlook
If you are on New version and cannot download attachments from Outlook on Windows, the following may work as a workaround:
- Press Windows + R, type
%localappdata%\Microsoft,, and press Enter. - Delete the Olk and OneAuth folders.
- Restart Outlook.

This only removes temporary Outlook data that will be recreated automatically.
