Alarms not going off in iPhone – What is the real issue?
One possible reason for the silent alarms issue on iPhone is that it can occur even when your ringer volume is set to maximum if the “attention awareness” feature is enabled. Your phone uses facial detection and may automatically lower or silence the alarm if it thinks you’ve looked at the screen. Disabling this feature should resolve the problem, which we discuss later in the article.
Another reason why iPhone alarms are quite an issue is that, unlike Android, all the volumes, i.e.,are divided into two broad categories, i.e. Ringer and Media. If you decrease the media volume, it will affect all other volumes. The alarm volume is not separate.
Fix iPhone silent alarms issue easily in simple steps
There are two fixes if your iPhone alarms remain quiet. Each is discussed below:
Turn off attention awareness
As discussed previously, the attention awareness feature is the root cause of the issue. To disable that, please follow the steps below:
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Go to Accessibility, scroll down, and tap Face ID & Attention (or Face ID & Passcode on newer iOS versions).
- Enter your passcode when prompted. Find Attention Aware Features and toggle it OFF.
Once you do that, the alarms not going off in the iPhone should be solved.

Use automation if still your iPhone alarms are quiet
You can also create an automation to fix the iPhone silent alarms issue. See the steps below for the same, as gotten from Twitter.
- Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone.
- Go to the Automation tab (bottom), Tap + (top right) → select Create Personal Automation.
- Scroll and choose Alarm as the trigger.
- Select When any alarm goes off → tap Next
- Tap Add Action, Search for Set Volume, and select it
- Tap on Volume percentage and set your desired level (e.g., 80–100%)

These comprehensive steps should help you resolve alarms not going off in iPhone.
